• It is the real product. The same software a rescue runs on, with a shelter's worth of animals with their medical records, applications at every stage, fosters, volunteer shifts, conversations in the inbox and donations already in it, so every page has something on it, and the rescue’s own public website at the same address: the animals looking for a home, the events coming up, a silent auction and a transport run with crates to spare.
• Sign in as whoever you like. The sign-in page lists an account for each kind of person: an administrator who sees everything, an adoption counselor, a vet, and the volunteer, foster, adopter and donor portals.
• Change anything. Add an animal, take an application through to adoption, write a reply in the inbox. Mail from the demo is written and never sent, so nobody’s inbox is part of your experiment. It is rebuilt from scratch every night, so nothing you do there lasts.
• Nobody else's data is in it. Every person and animal in the demo was made up for it.
• Seven corners are ours. The demo’s web address, its card payments and the outside services we wired into it are read-only, because the nightly rebuild does not put them back. It cannot invite anybody, partner with another rescue, add a webhook or create an API key, because each of those reaches somebody outside the demo. And it has no Public Registry, because the registry is about real people at real rescues. Everything else is yours to break.
